would most certainly head the list. Consistently voted one of the best films of all time by various film polls, there is simply no other film, except for Citizen Kane
, which has had as profound an impact on the development of the cinema. Since Einsenstein's original version was censored in many countries, and altered by Soviet officials in 1951 by removing scenes thought to be too violent, it would be a sacriledge to show a censored version. Our version was restored in 1976 by Mosfilm Studios adding back the original footage.
